CP Rugby.
Seven New South Wales Waratah players join the Cal Poly Rugby Team on the field. This partnership is meant to give back to the global growth of the rugby community. The women’s team is currently undefeated in their 2019 season as they transition in to 15s from 7s.
Winter Camp.
The Cal Poly Football Program began its three week 2021 winter camp on Jan. 29. This gave the Mustangs less than a month to prepare for their season opener on their six-game Big Sky Conference schedule. On Tuesday the players were informed the camp would be cut short. The first game of the season is still set for February 27th against UC Davis.
FAFSA.
Former president Donald Trump signed a $900 billion COVID-19 stimulus bill including aid for college students. The new bill is meant to simplify the process for students to request and receive federal aid.
Cal Poly still has money left over from the first stimulus package and will again have to allocate around 7 million towards student relief aid with the second stimulus. Students can apply for the coronavirus relief funding though the Cal Poly Care’s website.
Plant Culture.
Downtown San Luis Obispo business front saw closures while plant nurseries, commercial growers and farms remained open.
This lead to plant collecting to rise alongside baking, painting and knitting, as a quarantine past time.
