Mock Broadcast.

To create the mock version of the show, I utilized the show archives. I started with listening to the content where I was present for the recording sessions. Knowing my content and hosts proved to be useful because I could remember how Van Camp and Morgan reacted to each piece I wrote. When choosing the stores within the four-hour broadcast, I looked for content that was not time-sensitive (like arrests, award shows, or season finales). Utilizing evergreen content instead of currents increases the longevity of use for the promotional material. After passing these listening checks for the content, I uploaded my desired stories into an Adobe Audition multitrack session.

Within the session, I ordered the stories according to the scheduled format that the Van Camp and Morgan Show follows. Then I proceeded to remove any time indicators from the content. So, welcomes like “I am glad it’s Friday” and “It’s your Thursday show” wouldn’t give away that the piece I was compiling did not start as a unit.

Then, I finished my compilation by re-mixing the Van Camp and Morgan pre-made music beds to create an intro tune and a sound that was all my own. I had felt just as I guide the show through content, this insertion of my tune would represent my contribution to the Van Camp and Morgan morning show. The mixing and creation of only audio content without a voice-over is not something I had done before. The music brings listeners to the station, so branding with a sound can help us create brand recognition and keep consistent listeners.

Show Promo.

The VC&M Promo is a shorter and more concise version of the Mock Show. I used Adobe Audition to edit this version as well. Before editing my Mock Show track, I wrote and recorded a voice-over script for the narration. The purpose of the VC&M Promo is to give potential affiliates knowledge about the show's content, the hosts' personalities, and showcase how the Van Camp and Morgan Show fits with the radio station's niche audience.
